About Joel Ford
Joel Ford is an award winning composer and performer of a
wide spectrum of musical styles. He finished his AA in music
from Cabrillo, and his BA and MA in music composition from
UCSC. His works include a number of pieces for saxophone and
string quartets, as well as mixed chamber works, solo and
choral vocal works, musical theater and opera, jazz ensemble,
symphonic band, and pieces for guided group improvisation
and game music. He performs on saxophone and clarinet, recently
with local Santa Cruz groups "Frequency Jones,"
a startup funk project, and "Aza," a North African
fusion band deeply rooted in accoustic trance traditions of
Morocco.
